Seriously...?

This will be my little rant about the movie "Knowing" or apparently it is also called "know1ng"... with a one instead of an i... as you can see below, there will be some spoilers ahead. If you WANT to see this movie and want to feel you got ripped off too, feel free to stop reading now.

**********SPOILERS WILL FOLLOW***********

This movie looked pretty good from the previews and it was actually pretty good for the first hour and a half. It made Leslie very scared through most of it and I'll admit there was times where I was a little disturbed and freaked out. But in the last half hour, they had to turn it into some crazy alien crap movie.

The movie leads up to the fact that Nicholas Cage has a piece of paper that has all the dates of future trajedies, the number killed, and the coordinates on the earth where it will happen. He goes around trying to prevent whatever disaster may happen to cause all these deaths. The effects are really good through this point. Randomly though throughout the movie you see Cage's son being "stalked" by the blonde guys in suits. When it shows these men, you hear this very distrubing whispering noise that leaves you with a weird eerie feeling. You kinda get the idea they are aliens after a while, but you aren't quite sure how they are incorporated.

After a few events happen, they realize that the world is going to end on a certain day in October. This is the "climax" of the movie apparently that the world is going to end and these stalking aliens are trying to gather the "chosen" ones that can hear their whispers. They will then take them from Earth and put them on another planet to restart human kind. So a sun flare is going to destory the Earth, Cage's son and some other girls daughter get "chosen". They get taken away in some goofy looking space ship, the kids don't seem to care that the world and everyone they know are going to die because the aliens gave them BUNNIES!!! Then the sunflare comes and kills everyone on earth and it shows the boy and the girl on another planet playing and not caring that everyone they knew just burned to death.

I really enjoy the way that my beautiful bride-to-be Leslie put it. The movie is like one of those "you choose" books. Where you read a couple pages then it tells you to turn to this page or that one. Well the whole way through you are making nothing but good choices and the movie is going great, then director goes and makes the worst possible decision to end the movie. This movie took me back to another AWFUL alien movie, Signs. This movie is very creepy all the way through and then a crappy alien movie where the men are dressed in green spandex and die from the most abundant resource on the earth itself, WATER!

Needless to say, Leslie and I were very disappointed in this movie. And so was everyone in the theatre. A few people yelled "I want a refund" when the credits started to roll. Needless to say, I probably won't be going to the movies for a while and paying $7.50 for a movie that just angers and upsets me.

Excuse me...

So right now I am sitting in the business building lobby area and a girl has her mp3 player cranked up to the max. I am sitting 8 feet or so from her and I can hear the music pretty well and can catch some of the lyrics. All in favor of me asking her to skip this song cause I don't like it, say I.

I.

Not quite the same...

As you all know (cause most of you are family and were there...) I propose on Friday the 13th of February. It was a long road leading up to the proposal and lots of stress as well. Leslie wanted to post her side of the story and me to post mine. I'm not as good of a story teller, so here we go!

A few weeks back at work a kid asked me when I was going to pop the big question. I told him I was thinking of V-Day because Leslie likes holiday proposals. He was like "you know what would be funny, to do it the day BEFORE V-day." I thought it was funny as well and was sure Leslie would never expect it. Which was my key goal... to surprise her. So I started planning and discussing ideas with my family. We decided to go back to the roots of the t-shirts Tori made when I got home from my mission idea.

Initially I didn't realize that the 13th was going to be a Friday. Well around the 10th of February Leslie and I are hanging out watching some old episodes of the office and she mentions how superstitious she is. and I am thinking in my head "oh crap, I hope she doesn't hate me for doing it on the infamous "Friday the 13th". But she was okay with it in the end. So that was good.

A few other funny things leading up to the proposal date, Brooklyn (my 7 year old niece) goes up to Leslie one day and says (right infront of me) I know Tyler's secret. And Leslie says to her "he has a secret?" and looks at me. I told Les I had no idea what she is talking about and that she is crazy. Luckily Leslie didn't push Brooklyn to tell her anything and just dropped it. On a similar note the week before at the Superbowl, before Jill and Todd came up, Jill had to threaten Bay that if she said anything to Leslie she would kill her. Needless to say that Bay listened and is still alive and kicking.

So the proposal day
I took work off so that way I could get everything ready. So after school I had to go buy some ring pops and flowers (my mom insisted I NEEDED to give her flowers). So since Leslie isn't a fan of roses, I got her some pink and red carnations. I had bought these Hannah Montana V-Day cards that kids give out in elementary school to others in hopes they would be suitable to write on and have envelopes to put them in. Well the world has gone cheap and they don't give you envelopes anymore with those things... Just stickers so you fold them over and sticker them shut. That kinda bummed me out but luckily Tori, the creative person she is, said we shoudl just type stuff up and glue them on. So they were still savageable.

Tori came up after she got off work and we put the 3 notes that Leslie was going to find on her scavenger hunt together around 5ish. I then took the first one to her aunt Sue at the Michael's parking lot and told her to give it to her when I sent a text. (Thanks Sue for your help!)

All the while during the day Leslie has been texting me asking me about work and what I wanted to do tonight. So I am just lying to her like crazy saying "works good..." "we are having a little party with chips and cookies..." "work makes me so tired..." what not. As for the 'What do you want to do tonight?' question, I was digging deep in my head as to what to say. I knew what we were GOING to do, but trying to figure out what to tell her so she would think it was any other Friday night. I knew that she wanted to see that "he's just not that into you" movie for about 4 weeks now. So I suggested maybe go see that... or see if there are any movies in the Redbox or whatever. I think she was getting frustrated i wasn't coming up with anything.

After I get back with meeting up with Sue, Todd and Jill help me move everyone's cars to the church parking lot so Leslie wouldn't think anyone was at my house besides them. (Leslie knew they were going to be in town cause it was Jill's Grandma's birthday) So on the way out the door i realize there is like 40 shoes sitting in the front room. Those need to be hid. So while Todd and Jill help me move the cars and take the next note to Hamilton's, someone moved the shoes and coats. (Thank you mystery person.) On the way back, I realized I dropped the heart stickers that came in my Hannah Montana card box. So I needed to get home and get some tape to tape the 2nd note on the door at the Beaver Mountain Ski Shop office (by Fredricos for those that don't know where that is. NOT BEAVER MOUNTAIN ITSELF.)

Chad and Bracken were nice enough to sit and watch at the Ski shop knowing Leslie wouldn't recognize Chad's car to ensure she got the note. So i sent Leslie by texting Sue and the kids got their shirts on and headed down by the kitchen to get ready. With Leslie on her way, we practiced the kids saying "will you marry my uncle Tyler?" They were all goofing around and i was nervous how it would go. Tori told them if they were good they would get a treat. Which reminded me to get the Ring pops for them. So i grabbed those and said if they were good they would get to eat them. Well they weren't being very good, so we let them starting eating them to keep them quiet.

After Bracken told us Les got the first clue, they came over and we realized we didn't have someone sitting at Hamilton's to tell us when she got there. So I gave her some time, then called to see if she got it. She had just got it around 7:45ish and we were all freaking out getting ready to hide. I remember standing there staring at my parents holding the ring and saying "This feels like i am asking her to a dance, with just a little bit more weight behind it." My mom just laughed and said "yeah, a little more."

Todd told us she came, and he came back and hid, and everyone else killed the lights and i remember thinking "Please let these children be quiet for just 15 seconds so she can get from the front door to the kitchen without hearing them." That was my biggest worry is that one of the kids would make some noise, but they did great. We stood there for a while wondering what was taking her so long to get from her car to the door, later to find out she was looking for a clue on the door. She knocked, my dad answered and said that I was in the kitchen. She goes walking in and the kids just yell "WILL YOU MARRY MY UNCLE TYLER!!!??" I came out from behind her and knelt down. Her mouth was just open wide and she had her hands over her mouth. She didn't see me immediately, so I tugged on the side of her coat to get her to see me. I remember her saying "SHUT UP!!? Are you kidding me?" I just looked at the ring and said "No, will you marry me?" I stand up and she says "Yeah DUH!" and gave me a big hug. Tam then says "Les, if you wanna run, now would be the time!" Then all the kids go running off towards the kitchen screaming RUN!!!!!. It was pretty cute.

She just sat there and was teary eyed, staring at her ring and then at me iin disbelief it was real. Then Jill says "You can kiss him you know.." So Tori said, yeah kiss i'll get a picture with all the kids looking grossed out. Its a funny picture. Then out of nowhere Bryton comes running up to Leslie, i'm thinking he is going to hug her. But not, he winds up with his right foot and tries to kick her in the shin. Good thing he is 2 and doesn't really get the purpose of the moment. But it was still cute nonetheless.

Pretty much the rest of the night was spent with Leslie calling her family and visiting them. I heard a lot of them saying "FINALLY!" Kinda made me feel bad. But Leslie says it was perfect and that she had no idea what was going on. So i'm glad it worked out good because i was very nervous about so many little things. So yeah, That is my side of the story that I can think of.

Thank you to my family for all the help in cleaning the house, taking pictures, letting me use your time and your children, and being there to support me in this. I love you all so much. You are the best family ever! Thanks for saying Yes Leslie. I love you!

[Todd kept asking me over and over, "What happens if she says no?" I'm glad she didn't and I didn't have to worry about it, cause all I could think of was to tell her to leave.. Glad i didn't have to do that!]

Nearly 2 months later...

I am the worst blogger ever. Well... next to Nick. Anyways... School is going I guess. Most of my classes are reading oriented and require me to have to do few homework assignments. So that is pretty good. Anyways... I think its safe to say that i am probably just lazy. Here is a picture of the shelf i started building around the end of December-first of January time. I am in the process of painting it black... hence the song. Leslie's idea and favorite on guitar hero... Its almost done. I just suck at painting too.

I'd take a bullet for you...

Now that finals are over, things are a bit more relaxed. I like it. I need to find something to do with my mornings though. I am working on some ideas of things to do to stay busy. So far, they are just ideas though.
Leslie and I have a favorite thing about late night TV and that is Conan's conversations with people via satellite feed. Here is a good one about the recent actions of the Illinois Governor, Boygeorgeovich.

Be sure to make this holiday season a good one by honoring Governor Schwarzenegger and watching his all time holiday classic.... JINGLE ALL THE WAY!

In hopes of a good week...

Frosty is not having any of it Mr. Reindeer!

So i have been trying to look at anything i can in a positive light to keep myself in a good mood for Finals weeks. So after work on Thursday, I noticed that our lawn people are having some serious battles. It is pretty much WWF... WCW... Whatever its called these days in our yard. We have an inflatable snowman, an inflatable bear, and Santa and his reindeer (not inflatable). Well the wind seems to push them around a bit as they aren't really fastened down the best. Needless to say Thursday evening. Snowman was winning. He used his inflatable tree in his right hand to stab Santa and 1 of his reindeer over, then he managed to body slam the teddy bear and had him pinned down. It was pretty hilarious. Man i'm retarded...

[**I had hoped to post this blog BEFORE finals week, but i spent about 9 hours studying yesterday for my final today. Needless to say, after 9 hours yesterday and 3 hours today, nothing could have prepared me for what my professor gave us. Pretty much the worst final ever. Great way to start finals week.]

A life long learned lesson....

Thanksgiving is over. And it's kinda sad to see it go. It's a bitter sweet for me. As much as i loved not working for a few days and not having school. I found myself being REALLY lazy and at times, pretty bored.

On Thanksgiving day, all the family came over and we ate and hung out. Chatted a bit laughed. Some of us got made fun of. (me) I had borrowed Nick's Rock band and all the kids wanted to play it. Well they mostly wanted to sing and play the drums. Which wasn't cool because the drums are probably the hardest part of the game, even on easy mode. Long story short, I got stuck baby sitting with the kids upstairs that night with Rockband while everyone else played board games down stairs.**** Side note: I dunno if Landon just isn't coordinated enough yet with both hands or what, but he would constantly be using both sticks on the drums, even if there was just one button to be hit. So i got a massive headache from the constant... THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD for an hour and a half. All in all it was fun to play with them and we had some funny moments.

Friday i got to experience for the first time... BLACK FRIDAY. Apparently on Mark's way over some pedestrians got pulled over(?) for jay walking. (Can you get pulled over as a pedestrian?) So Mark got me at 5 in the morning and we went to Al's to do some sporting goods shopping. First off, i am not a shopper... at all. Second of off, i am not a morning person. I learned that both of them together gets me no where really. The selection they had on some things were pretty intense. Lots of extra smalls, extra larges, extra extra larges. And hardly anything in between. Funny story though. Over the PA they announce they have 75% off Smith glass up at the front. Mark goes and grabs a box and brings it back to where i am. I say lemme see what you got. He goes can't, it's taped shut. I say just open it. He opens it. Its an empty box. He grabbed the display box. Phew... almost paid 35 bucks for an empty box. So he goes to get another. Finds one and opens it. This one is the model he wants, but it has diamond studs that say Smith on the left ear piece. Then the other side has the HOLES for the studs, but no diamonds. Mark says " i am so done with these." and puts them back. All in all, it was a neat learning experience from marks sunglasses, to my being lost and confused and acting lost at times, to the lady passing out waiting in line as we were leaving.

That night Mark Jason and I hung out and played video games. Went to go meet up with Nate and people to play night games, but it was canceled and we missed the memo until we got there. Jill and Todd kept saying i had a GLA night.

Saturday I felt like crap due to the lack of sleep i got (4 hours) on Thursday to Friday night... and i can't sleep in past 10am... ever. So i just sat around and was lazy with nothing to do. Around 2 I had to drive down to Bountiful to pick up clothes for the group project i am doing for school. And finished out the night by sitting around doing nothing. Very very lazy week. Also Happy Birthday to Troy and Tori yesterday.

Now i get to study for my finals in a week. Not excited... Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving week.
